Introduction
Investigative activity developed at the Varvito Geological Monument in Itu.
Areas of Knowledge: Natural Sciences (Geography, Science, and History).
Cognitive Axes: Understanding Phenomena; Facing Problem Situations; Building Arguments; Developing Proposals.
Methodologies: ALEM (Student Engaged in Environmental Studies), Active Methodology, and Gamification.
Duration of the activity (in loco): approximately 3 and a half hours.
Level: Elementary 1, Elementary 2, and High School
In this exciting adventure, students are invited to participate in the activity to unravel the mysteries of geological periods during glaciation, when the continents were in different formations, giving rise to a monumental sedimentary geological formation slowly formed by sedimentation, called Varvito.
In an engaging and stimulating manner, the itinerary offers a guiding line that directs students as protagonists of their own learning, providing conditions for the expression of skills and perceptions, considered in the closing dynamics and woven by trained educators within the ALEM IVIAN METHODOLOGY.
In addition to geological evidence, the activity also allows for the search for traces of past lives, recorded by evidence of tracks in the park's rocks. These are the ichnofossils of prehistoric benthic animals!
As learning elements, constructed using gamification structures, the itinerary starts from the geological/geomorphological history and brings situations to raise awareness about aspects of Natural Heritage, analyses, and scientific observation, economic and productive dynamics of mining.
