Introduction

CHILDREN'S DREAM ZOO

The Children's Dream Zoo is located 3 km from the Municipality of Pitangueiras – SP, on the Pitangueiras Viradouro Vicinal Road km 01, with parking space, adapted restrooms, accessibility sidewalks, cafeteria, playground, and a beautiful structure.

Currently, we care for more than 35 species that have been sent by environmental agencies, such as: Jaguar, macaws, toucan, deer, capuchin monkeys, marmosets, anteater, agouti, bearded dragon, squirrels, snakes, among other species.

The Children's Dream Zoo meets some social and educational needs, considering that today ALL zoos are protagonists in welcoming animals that are victims of illegal wildlife trafficking, victims of mistreatment, injured, and other atrocities caused by humans.

The Children's Dream Zoo receives animals from IBAMA and other environmental agencies, animals that NO LONGER have conditions to be released into nature, but can have a second chance at life and can survive in captivity. These animals cannot maintain their survival in the wild, do not know how to hunt for food, do not know how to defend themselves from predators, and do not know how to behave in the wild to stay alive.

Given this reality, our zoo conducts various Environmental Education programs daily to raise awareness among children and adults about the importance of not deforestation, the importance of not removing wild animals from nature to keep as pets, and other various habitual attitudes of humans that cause damage to our fauna, so that in the future we do not have more animals in this same situation.

The project aims to prioritize visits from Early Childhood Education, Elementary School, and High School and other groups, enabling these young people to carry forward information that can contribute to the conservation of our fauna.

Since we were born, we hear stories and songs about animals; they are part of children's integral development. They teach life values. Having a relationship with and knowing animals is a way to convey important lessons to children about birth, reproduction, extinction, accidents, and other significant events. When a little animal dies or gets lost, they come into contact with grief, which will be useful in future sad events in life.

Studies show that children who live with animals become more empathetic, calmer, and very affectionate, not to mention that animals can help in many physiotherapeutic and medicinal treatments.
