Introduction

INDIA VANUÍRE MUSEUM

The Historical and Pedagogical Museum India Vanuíre is a local institution that engages with the global context. An institution of the Secretariat of Culture, Economy and Creative Industries, the museum was established in 1966 by Luiz de Souza Leão in the context of implementing the network of Historical and Pedagogical Museums in the state of São Paulo.

Tupã

Located in the west of the State of São Paulo, the city was founded in 1929 by Luiz de Souza Leão. Of indigenous origin, the name Tupã pays homage to the local natives, the indigenous people, who still inhabit the region today.

Among the factors that contributed to the growth and development of the city are the advancement of the São Paulo Railway Company, the quality of the land for coffee cultivation, and the commercial extraction of hardwood, in addition to the direct participation of immigrants, including the colonies of Italians, Japanese, Portuguese, Spaniards, Syrians, among others.

With a current population of 63,476 inhabitants and located about 450 km from the capital of São Paulo in a straight line, Tupã is now the political and reference center for the new Alta Paulista, due to its location and the services provided in the areas of security, health, and education. It is currently considered a tourist resort.
