Introduction
Manaus
Manaus, on the banks of the Rio Negro in northwestern Brazil, is the capital of the vast state of Amazonas. It is an important starting point close to the Amazon Rainforest. To the east of the city, the dark Rio Negro converges with the muddy Rio Solimões, resulting in an incredible visual phenomenon known as the "Meeting of the Waters." The combination of the tributaries forms the Amazon River.
A stone jungle amidst the Amazon Rainforest. The main gateway for adventurers wishing to explore the largest tropical forest in the world. The city has a culinary menu of unmatched flavor. The municipality has a diverse fauna and flora with a range of rare species. Remote from the golden age of rubber, the capital has important buildings such as the majestic Teatro Amazonas and the imposing Mercado Municipal Adolpho Lisboa.
